Trees

a selection of trees
probably a century old or more
from within
my secret garden

l wonder
how many trees can be named
from this silhouette of leaves

 l love looking skyward
and being under the canopy of branches

solid, old, strong, wise, dependable
is this the tree or what l'm looking for...

old trees bring out the hugs in me...

Photostory Friday - Early Summer Flowers

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Here in Cumbria we are usually between 2 and 4 weeks
behind the rest of the mid and southern counties.
And I am referring to blooms here in case I hear any smart comments!

I spent a lunch time trying to get some images
of the blooms around the garden home and at work.
Not sure I know what their specific botanical names are
maybe someone will know and tell me....

am not fmailiar with this one...

variegated rose bush

dogwood blossom

honeybee on a lunch break

lilac foxglove

pretty lilac bloom

another variegated rose?

my luncheon companion
running away when I moved as I picked up my camera
he came very close to me

?????

just a pretty garden scene in front of a Jacobean window

I can't wait to see what a new camera
a digital SLR will do for me
when we get it!!

Pergola

After consulting my tome The New English Dictionary again,
it describes the word pergola as a garden archway,
as well as other shaped garden frameworks
which enable the trailing of plants or climbers!
Origin is 17th century from Italian/Latin pergula 'projecting roof'

I was  inspired to post some before and after images
of the  pergolas in the garden of our home

A bare pergola against house's back wall in early December '07

2nd bare pergola by outdoor dining/bbq area

and to Wisteria bloom in early summer '08 for only a few short weeks

they are actually more pinky in tone that lilac but you get the idea

and they were the very first real flush of colour,
as in a new home and garden everything that blooms and blossoms is a lovely surprise!

Like a moth to a flame...

Everything changes, nothing stays the same, so the saying goes, and yet here I am in a space where nothing has seemingly changed; it is just...
