A Sage evening #2

I can hardly believe it was one week ago already since my lovely son accompanied me to see Freddy Kempf at The Sage in Gateshead.

This is the wonderful ceiling, doesn't it remind YOU of piano keys!
We had an outstanding evening! The room was not even half full which was a shock. But the BBC were in for the weekend and offering freethinking sessions on BBC3 so l guess that explained it. But to see Freddy live was something we had been looking forward to since we first heard he was to play in Hall one.
If you haven't been lucky enough to see the Sage inside as well as out. Hope you like the look of it.
My me last year to see and hear my favourite piece performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto and that was a treat too. HERE

Beethoven's Pathetique sonata Adagio Cantabile, love, love it!
This was the second piece he played, I almost forgot to breathe, my eyes leaked. Not sure why!
His encore was a 'Chopin sonata' I think it was No 11, but not sure. THANK YOU son for making it a night to remember!
Not all the technical dodahs can beat being there...so glad you had a lovely time with the tall boy.
ReplyDeleteLooks a lovely place. The power of classical music can move me to tears too and, as Moanie says, being there makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI listened to this twice, it is so beautiful. Saving it to my favorites. My husband is a musician and songwriter; he writes, plays and listens to bluesy/jazzy stuff, country stuff, hard rock stuff; everything EXCEPT MY kind of stuff. Consequently, I sometimes forget that there is actually music out there that I love. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteOh, I almost forgot - that ceiling is incredible!
I walked around the Sage for the first time this summer I'm ashamed to say. Next year I am determined to actually go and see something. it's incredible. I just wish it had been there when I was growing up!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame so few people showed up.
ReplyDeleteyes, it does remind me of piano keys! glad you had a good time. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way I have left an award for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place for a concert. Yes, it does look like piano keys. Just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThey do look like piano keys and what fun your son accompanied you on this fabulous outing!

ReplyDeletealways wonderful to have an evening with one of your children. beautiful music.lovely photography
ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful recording. Of course I have never been in the Sage, but now I feel I have been. Thank you Saz. What a wonderful experience to enjoy this with your son, too. A memorable time which we mothers tend to recognize even more special as they get older. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooks very like the Bridgewater Hall (my favourite concert hall in the world!). Sounds like you had a wonderful time, nothing like hearing music played live, is there?
ReplyDeleteYes piano keys it certainly looks like.
ReplyDeleteSaz, I am delighted you like classical music and you list quite a few of my favs.
Was decorating today and I listened to ALL of Beethoven's Piano Concertos played by Daniel Barenboim - beautiful and I still was not tired.
Glad I called in for the treats. I will listen to more when I have posted this comment.

Only now that you mention a half full concert hall did I realize that I have never seen anything but a full house here in V. - maybe we have smaller ones? ;-)
