Sniff, sniff, snort!

My daughter came home from school & work yesterday late afternoon and went straight to bed, feeling crap. Today I got a call at work from Larry, to tell me he had to go through the NHS procedures and that she has every symptom on their list. No doctor calls, no visit allowed to the surgery. Larry was given a ref # and was sent to a designated chemist as her flu buddy. He came home with swabs, literature and Tamiflu for our tall girl. She is still in bed as I type, with clean sheets, some soup inside her and drugged up for the night ahead. A temp of 102, aches, pains, sore throat, tiredness, sore throat, runny nose, cough and upset tummy....so far!

240 pupils at her school of 1200 were sent home yesterday and over 100 had swabs taken. She thinks the sharing of their water bottles may not have helped! Kids eh?

    So sorry to hear that Saz. It is still lurking around in New Zealand, but we are hoping the summer might slow it down. Guess that means it will increase up on the top half of the world for the next fee months.. better go stock up with food and drugs before you all come down with it!

    Sorry to hear that. They said it would come back in full swing in the autumn, didn't they? Paracetamol and chicken soup will work wonders!

    My daughter-in-law runs a daycare and one of her charges came down with the Swine Flu. She has two kids of her own and they had to send the bunch of them home and totally swab down the place with disinfectant. What a mess. I guess we aren't supposed to call it the Swine Flu, it's now the H1N1, whatever, it's not a good thing.

    Poor girl. Hope she's feeling better soon. It's not hit my school yet, but then the Bursar has installed hundreds of hand sanitisers around the place and we're all washing hands like mad, sanitising at every opportunity and trying not to interact with each other. Any pupil who sneezes is to be sent to the school nurse immediately to avoid contaminating others. A slight sense of paranoia is now hanging around the corridors!

is next to god awfulness. l enjoyed my London trip on so many levels. Though particularly because I had time to suit myself, time away from pressure of work, time away from the kids, all types of timetables. Time away from decision making, which I abhor with a passion! Sometimes, though thankfully not often when l am alone. Sitting in a coffee shop. Or in line in the bank or supermarket. Waiting in the car in line for the car park. Usually alone waiting. I get the heebee jeebee's. In plain speak a panic or anxiety attack. It comes in the form of a butterfly fluttering in my chest, a screaming in my head. Silent screaming. But I feel the noise. White noise. That drives darkness through the day like a knife through butter. It lasts but a few moments, but a dry fear stays a while. On my way to work - Monochrome Monday

Monochrome Monday hosted by Aileni As it is very frosty and cold I am driving to work, shameful, yes, as its only 1.75 miles uphill down hill in nose to tail traffic. I park in the nearest car park, courtesy of the City Council, a perk of the job. Thank you very much.
