Six Word Memoir

Fhina's Challenge, a six word memoir. I found this too hard to make a sentence, so I just stuck to six words. I think people may challenge me, it's all about perception and this is me, but is this how I'm seen? I doubt it.

Effervesent...

voluptuous...

sensuous...

moody...

devoted...

vintage...

If you were to write your memoir, how might you describe your life in so few words?
How would you want to be remembered?

Should you wish to tag along, the Meme instructions are as follows:

1. Write your own six word memoir.

2. Post it on your blog; include a visual illustration if you'd like.

3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post, and to the original post if possible.

4. Tag at least five more blogs with links.

5. Leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play! I would ask that anyone who wants to play, do so and let me know so l can come see!

Snap Happy

I knew that I haven't taken as many photographs recently
so when I took the dog for her evening walk
I took my mobile, 'just in case.'

I was only outside for about 15 minutes in all
As I walked and looked and looked...
I looked up and noticed a veined pattern
in the branches of naked tree tops...

and another in the melting snow...

Then I told myself to look for more patterns....
and then I couldn't stop seeing them!

in the earth trodden snow...

in a row of victorian workers cottages
in a row of sycamores in front of them

in the ice cold pavement slabs
as it was just next to freezing

in the brick wall with their pink and purple hues
bitten with lichen...

it's strange what and how you see when you really LOOK...

and I rushed dog home to excitedly upload them to my laptop!

Have your say

Brought to my attention by Sass who was propelled into action by the misqouted  by Don Mills Diva.
in this Times online article, which I had missed. It asks whether the global activity that is blogging is misguided and that we overlook the dangers to ourselves and our families'  potential mental health and well being with the venting of one's spleen or not.
I have no qualms about the subjects I post about, nor do I have concerns about my family reading them. I am measured about what I post. If you blog anonymously and keep the blog a secret from family, work colleagues and friends, you obviously are at risk of 'being found out' but hey it's free world last time I looked. Or perhaps I didn't look properly!
One doesn't have to blog 'publicly', an invitation or indeed a private blog is one option and there are many more options and differing levels of privacy.
I print my posts off and keep them in a folder, a personal record, not unlike a diary or journal. An heirloom of the 21st century. It was also mentioned that bloggers are diluting the kudos and the professionalism of journalists. I doubt that, but I would leave that to those 'qualified' to ponder. Now who would that be exactly?

.... here is a token to add to your blog should you wish to, oh and please drop Don Mills a line so she knows you are on board!

Fhina's Meme - Part 2

22. You have George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden locked in a small room together. It's airtight so both the guys are gonna suffocate anyway, but what amusing weapon do you give them to make it more entertaining? a grenade
23. The Angel of Death has descended upon you. Fortunately, the Angel of Death is pretty cool and in a good mood, and it offers you a half-hour to do whatever you want before you bite it. Whatcha gonna do in that half-hour? Have a last supper with all my family and friends.
24. Truthfully, what underwear are you currently wearing? Flesh coloured undies, my bra comes off the moment I get home. Too much information, sorry!

26. You can re-live any point of time in your life. The time-span can only be a half-hour, though. What half-hour of your past would you like to experience again? The first 15 minutes of each of my childrens lives.
27. Moses trips on his robe and drops the stone tablets (Moses sounds as clumsy as I am!). Commandment number eleven is broken off. He leaves it there as his back is killing him (...ditto!). What does it say?
Thou shall not be able to keep all these commandments - predictable l guess.
28.You can erase any horrible experience from your past. What will it be? Erase the year 1996
29. Rufus reappears with the time machine and a custard pie. Who's gonna get it? BUSH
30. You got kicked out of the country for being a time-travelling heathen who sleeps with celebrities and has super-powers. But you can move to anywhere else in the world! What country are you going to live in now? Mais la belle france, tous sais!
31. What part of your body would you change (no, you are NOT perfect; you gotta answer this one) and why? 20/20 vision
32. You have been eternally banned from every single bar in the world except for ONE. Which one is it gonna be?   actually l couldnt care less!
3. What's the last thing you ate? a huge plate of cabbage, carrots and suede with butter and craked pepper, yes really!
34. Hopefully you didn’t mention this in the super-powers question…. If you did, then we’ll just expand on that. Suddenly, you have gained the ability to float. Who are you going to show this to first? these guys,
35. The constant absorption of magical moonbeams mixed with the radioactive vegetables you consumed earlier has given you the ability to resurrect the dead celebrity of your choice. So which celebrity will you bring back to life? It's that cabbage isn't it, predictable again, sorry, Princess Diana! I'd love to see their faces!! Hah!
36. The Celestial Gates of Beyond have opened, much to your surprise because you didn’t think such a thing existed. Death appears. As it turns out, once again Death is actually a pretty cool entity, and happens to be in a fantastic mood. Death offers to return the friend/family-member/person, etc. of your choice to the living world. Who will you bring back? My maternal grandfather, as my mum didn't know him, she was four when he died.
38 When did you last have sex? Why?
39. Buffy, Willow or Xander? Hugh of course, duh!

AND TO END WITH 5 EXTRA QUESTIONS POSED BY FHINA, so l've added them onto this, so now l'm done ok!! Help yourself to any or all!

1. What is your favourite room in your home, and why? As this home is fairly new to us, and is so much smaller than our old farmhouse. I haven't any of MY furniture in this place, nor is it decorated in purples hues, yet. So I will have to say that the garden is my favourite place, as I can at least plant and grow my vegetables. SO hurry up spring!!

2. Which season of the year do you love most, and please tell us a memory you have about why that season is your most favourite? I adore a warm summers evening. I have many memories of evenings spent lazily, or walking on a beach in semi darkness with the children still playing in the sand. One of my favourite, was before children, sitting high above Keri, Zakynthos, watching the sunset with Larry and two friends, 1989. sigh!

3. Saz, you are a very creative person, so can you tell us your own tips for fashion in the coming season, including vintage of course? Vintage is always in fashion in my book! I like to watch and listen of the news and the fashion mags. I use Vogue, Harpers , Gracia etc and then dilute the look down to a few basics to add to my wardrobe to the website. Current fashion themes with a vintage twist. I usually have something in storage or else I source the item and use it for the relevant season. For example, last season tartan was big I bought a 1960's tartan fringed cape; luxe is still big, so anything glitzy, glam in gold. If in doubt source a vintage handbag for a current look with a history. Try to get an 80's qulited bag which is very big now, or an ostrich skin bag, again very current. My BIG tip for this year, silk scarves, knotted to your bag, I don't ever leave home without one.

4. In the film of your long and erudite life, which actress would you choose to would play you, and why? Realistically it would have to be Caroline Quentin, but for Hollywood, Juliette Binoche or Tamsin Greg, depending on the script!
5. Please tell us where you would like to be in 5 years time, the sights, sounds and smells, and what you plan to be doing? Simply, Healthy, hearty, happy in heart and mind.

Thanks Fhina, hope I did them justice!

The 'George Carlin' Theory

Today it was very quiet at work, we know why, I just posted about it. I have been reading a transactional therapy book.  Specifically considering looking at things from different perspectives  and towards the end I read this .... and it  made me laugh right out loud. I hope you like it.

The 'George Carlin' Theory

The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean,
life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get
at the end of it? A Death. What's that, a bonus?
I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way.
Then you live in an old age home.
You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch and you go to work.
You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities. You become a little baby, you go back into the womb, spend your last nine months floating ... and you finish off as an orgasm!

Firstly, this wasn't written by George Carlin,
nor as far as is known performed by him,
but it is in the style of the late great George Carlin.
It occurs to me that it also resembles the story of Benjamin Button!

Like a moth to a flame...

Everything changes, nothing stays the same, so the saying goes, and yet here I am in a space where nothing has seemingly changed; it is just...
