Pockets of sunshine

It may have been pouring for five days now.
Both outside and inside.
Summer may have given up on us. But I have not.
I start my summer hols today
I have nothing planned
I refuse to sit and mope.
And to feel sorry for myself.
So I figured if I posted about my intentions here,
then I have to make an effort to do as many of them as I can
then come back and tell you all about my adventures.

I have some places I want to go...

Shambellie House - Museum of Costume

Things I want to see...

the Royal Academy

Blackwell House- the Arts & Crafts House

The National Gallery

a show perhaps...

Tasks I want to get done.

like trim the hedges, tidy the flower beds

some wallpapering

Books to read...

Films to see...

Some indulgences I hope to accomplish
like this...

and this...

and this...

and something involving this ...

and this...

and this

and er ... me

l'm going to be a busy girl

  1. The hedges look like elephants. What great pictures. I love rain but that's because I live in Arizona and I am so happy when we get some.

  2. OK, I'm not so laid back as you. I'm coming over in less than two weeks and I want that weather sorted. I spent last July in rain (all but four days) and it's glorious here. Please don't make it rotten weather in England in August.

  3. Lovely sights, all of them. Save some energy for unanticipated delights.

  4. I got one of your wishes done: Starbucks and a nice sweet thing. Now I'm working on another - a good book. I found "Slumlord Millionaire" at the bookstore today. So far I'm liking it.

  5. What fabulous hedges! Were they topiary Elephants or am I going daft (er) ?

  6. do you know - I know exactly where that Kent picture was taken... old family haunt when I was a kid.

  7. Mmmmm Earl Grey and a cupcake - stop tempting me!

Where has the summer gone? I optimistically bought a BBQ yesterday and today we've got thunder and lightning and rain coming down in stair rods!

Enjoy the break and hope you get some of that stuff done!

  8. Now I'm sure you need company on your hols! I'm packing a bag...I'll bring the Earl Grey...

  9. I want to see TTW but I am worried it wont live up to the wonderful book .. Husband says 'its fantasy, how can you be disappointed'.. men

  10. Oh honeybunch! What a lot of goodies you have lined up, go for 'em you're a long time dead. ML has pencilled in the weekend of the 15th and 16th to show and tell...hehe but is flexible if it clashes with your plans.
I can give you the Bay...and cake and coffee and hugs galore XXX

11.'re going to be a busy girl! I'm jealous of your holiday! And I really want to read TTW and see the movie too.

  12. If you do half of that, you'll be a very busy girl. Hope you have fun!

  13. WoooHOO, sounds like a blast! Have fun!

  14. pretty much ALL of that looks delish!!!

  15. Enjoyed all the sights. Great photos.
Bad weather. I am on holiday too. Very disappointed by rain and lack of sunshine.
Many of the things you want to do are out of the rain though!
Fingers crossed it will clear up & we will all have beautiful weather.

  16. The rain picture is so cool.
    Good luck with your list!

  17. The hedges ARE elephants. Topiary ones. They are at Penpont.

Leave Brecon on the A40 and you'll find Penpont on the right hand side after about 4 miles.

They have a lovely farm shop which supplies some of the local restaurants and is open to the public from June to December. Bought yummy broad beans, courgettes and spuds there last weekend.

    Mad x

  20. I love your intention list! I hope you cross all of them off before summer's end :-)

  21. Now I want your summer, my darling! Get on with it, girl; Sounds fab, Sazfab in fact! I loved the novel of the Time Traveler's Wife, don't know how they could have transformed that to film, 'tho?

Word verif is fittingly, 'sympa!' xox

Thanks for stopping by!

Take the weight of your feet, draw up a chair and pour yourself a cuppa. Leave your troubles at the door and together we shall ride out the storms.
I will walk a while in your shoes...
